Veterans

Veterans - 1The Veterans Resource Center (VRC), located at the Downtown Campus, provides voluntary assistance to homeless veterans in a partnership with the U.S. Veteran’s Affairs Administration of American Lake and Seattle. We are members of the VA Stakeholders Committee and Operation Comfort Warriors: Heroes to Home Towns.

The VRC volunteers meet with homeless veterans who come to the Mission for food and shelter. On a typical day, a VRC volunteer might be found providing bus passes, cough drops, clothing, toiletries, or other needed items to veterans who visit the Center, while offering conversation and an opportunity to explore alternatives to homelessness. Veterans are also directed to resources at Veterans Affairs Facilities in the Puget Sound area.

The American Lake location of the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System provides a licensed homeless outreach social worker on a regular basis to determine the best solutions for helping homeless veterans.
