Jim is 68 and for most of his life, he didn’t know that life could be any different.

Growing up in a violent and abusive home, he assumed that life would always be full of pain and that the only way out was to run. So he ran – to gambling, to addiction – to anything that gave him any bit of relief, no matter how brief. And no matter how devastating.

For decades, he lived that way. He would build a wonderful life over and over — a home, a wife, kids, a good job — then lose it all to his addiction. He experienced homelessness on and off for years.

Because of Jesus, New Life Is Possible.

Then he came to the Mission, experienced real love, met Jesus and began a whole new life.

“Without the New Life Program and without the Mission, there would be more people dying on the streets. They need an avenue for hearing about a different way of life,” he says.

“If donors didn’t give, then the Mission wouldn’t be here. They wouldn’t be able to give people meals and hear that there’s a better way. . . The Mission has to stay because it is always planting seeds and you never know which way a person will go once the seed is planted. You never know how many lives will be changed.”
