Jim Freisheim is married with two children. He and his wife attend Abundant
Life Fellowship where he is a member of the Church Council. Jim received his
BA at Pacific Lutheran University and his PhD from the University of Washington
Medical School. Jim enjoys golf, gardening and singing. He is an active member
of Tacoma Master Chorale and Spanaway Parkland Area Singers.
Larry Geringer is married with two sons and eight grandchildren. Larry has
a BA in Economics/Management from the University of Nebraska, 1969, an
MS from the University of Utah, 1976. He currently works for Boeing
as Manager, Continuous Quality Improvement, Boeing Fabrication Division,
Skin and Spar Unit and previously worked as Manager, Boeing Support
Services Continuous Quality Improvement Organization. He developed
quality education, awareness and training programs. Also developed and
maintained a tracking, reporting system, established and monitored quality
assurance activities. Larry is a retired Air Force Officer. He and his wife
attend Chapel Hill Presbyterian and live in Gig Harbor.
Alvin Helms is Senior Pastor of Oberlin Congregational Church in Steilacoom,
Washington, where he has served since 1998. Alvin is a third-generation pastor.
As a young child, he heard the gospel with clarity and surrendered his life to
Christ. Alvin attended Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas. He completed
two years at SBC and then transferred to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma,
where he earned a Bachelor’s degree with a double major in Psychology and Interpersonal/Organizational
Communication. Alvin went on to earn a Master’s degree in Religion from
Yale Divinity School.Alvin values community involvement. Alvin is the
Chairman of the Lay Ministry Committee for the Conservative
Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC). He also serves on the Board of Directors
for the CCCC. Alvin is married and has four children.
Dennis Davenport is married with four children. He and his wife are active in their
church, Life Center Assembly of God where he has served as chairman of deacons and a
trustee. Dennis is a self-employed building contractor and was formerly a member of
the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce - Tourism Committee, the Harbor Crew, a work force
for disabled young adults and a member of the American Heart Association.
Robert Schultz was born in Tacoma, Washington. He served in the Air Force in World War
II and the Korean War. He has been a member of the Central Baptist Church for 40 years.
He has been a member of the Tacoma Rescue Mission Board of Trustees since 1969. In 2001
Bob retired from the Board and was appointed Board Member Emeritus. Robert has worked as
a General Contractor since 1965.
Mark Taylor is the Insurance Finance Manager for the Insurance Department of Weyerhaeuser.
He is Vice President, Treasurer and a Director of verBes’ Insurance Co. in Vermont. Mark
Taylor has a degree in business administration with a major in accounting from the University
of Washington and holds the Associate in Risk Management designation. He is an active member
of Christ Community Baptist Church in Puyallup. Mark is married with two grown children and three grandchildren.
Cheryl Montgomery is an account representative from US West DEX. She
and her husband have two sons. She is a graduate of Stadium High School
and attended Pacific Lutheran University, City University and Tacoma
Community College.She and her family attend Greater Christ Temple where she
serves as a board member.She is the membership director of the Executive Women
International and has received numerous awards from US West Communications
including the Present’s Award. She enjoys traveling and reading.
Ray Arnold, a long-time Board member who served for many years as the
President of the Board was appointed as Board Member Emeritus. He and
his wife have four children. Ray is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Gig
Harbor. He and his wife attend Life Center.
Ron Thompson is married has six children and 15 grandchildren. He
graduated from the University of Washington law school and has been a
practicing lawyer in Pierce County since. In addition, he serves as
Commissioner pro tem and as Judge pro tem. Ron continues to be active
in the West Tacoma Optimist Club, with the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar
Association Foundation. He is an active member of State and local bar
associations, the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, the Tacoma
Club, and the Gig Harbor Golf and Country Club.
Gene Pankey is married and a proud father and grandfather. He was a
local business owner but is now retired. He is an active member of
Northwest Commercial Bank Board of Directors and a former President of
the Rotary Club of Clover Park. Gene is active in the local community;
he is a member of AMVETS, Self Help for the Hard of Hearing, Tacoma Elks
and an active member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Karin Williamson is married with 4 children. She has a BSN with honors from
Oral Roberts University. She is owner of Hill House Gardens - a landscape design
company. She is an active member of Life Center and facilitates a small group monthly.

Kevin Phelps is married with 2 children. He is the former owner of the Landmark Convention Center.
He is an active member of Life Center and is involved in their men’s ministry. “I
believe in the mission and vision of Tacoma Rescue Mission.”
